I can't believe anyone commissions you with ridiculous prices like that.

You obviously dont know much about the plushy world then, Her prices are fair. Compared to other sellers like Nazegoreng, her prices really arent that bad.

Now that I look, her pony prices start at around $430. Mine start at $400 and are several inches larger. You're really only getting a substantially cheaper price for her substantially smaller/mini plushes, not full sized ones.

Sorry Naz xD your plushies are AMAZING! and when I was writing this I was thinking about your Rarity or RD plush xD

Ahh I understand. Just remember that the prices listed are her starting price, I guarantee she doesn't charge that for RD or Rarity, or it wouldn't be her 'starting' price :)

I'm sorry, but anyone who pays 800 dollars for a plushie is an idiot.

Thanks for that ._. but I don't think I'm an idiot for buying $800 plushies. Some people spend 2K on purses, I spend $800 on Plushies, I love them, will cherish and their custom made just for me, with my design so I think that's way more special than buying a mass produced purse.

Well said, GothGurl!

Would like to add the thousands spent on a pair of shoes that will be worn only once, or hundreds of thousands on a vintage car that just isn't worth it, OR those 'mass produced' My Little Pony Plushies that most people are buying these days!  Those mass produced "Made in China" are made using the cheapest minky fabric they can get their hands on and are cheaply sewn.  I bought a Made in China Snoopy Plushie, took it home, tore it apart and the minky fabric backing was like cheap plastic backing like they use in those plastic feedbags at the feed stores...not the nice tightly knitted 'cloth' feel backing...plastic!  TY's MLP Beanies pattern are just not up to the standards that TY had when TY first went in business.  And the ones I've seen at Walmart and Target have seams coming apart before they're even bought!

We plushie makers take our time making the pattern (and constantly adjusting/tweaking over and over until its where we want it - I worked on my for over 2-years!), having to deal with issues of sewing with specific fabrics (such as minky which slides all over the place and needs back-to-back pinning and/or a base stitch before final stitching, and ultra cuddle is a pain-in-the tush to work with so I no longer use it).

I hand-sew and hand-embroider my plushies and only recently started using the sewing machine to sew the inner leg gussets to the outer lower leg body of the larger size ponies...other than that, everything else is done by hand which takes 3-4 times longer to do than on a machine.   To hand-embroider 1 eye on a 10-14" Pony takes anywhere from 2.5 -4 hours.  The eyes that I embroidered on a 36" Applejack took just over 8-hours EACH to do.  When its finished, I have anywhere (depending on the size of the plush) from 20-hours (small) to 60 hours (12-14") making a plush.  Now, times that by $10.00 which should really be $15.00 an hour and what price do you come up with?  20 x 10 would be $200.00 for a 8" plush of say one of my embroidered Doctor Whooves and slightly more for a Rainbow Dash, but I don't charge that price, I actually charge slightly less.  A 14" Pony done by hand and embroidered would be 60-hours (say Pinkie Pie) x 10.00 would equal $600.00 but I only charge $300 which means overall I'm working for less than minimum wage at approx $5.00 an hour, and I don't have a regular job (wish I did).

People also think that because its minky it has to cost more.  Not so.  I've searched minky on the internet and the local fabric store and there is only $2-3 difference in price per yard and when its on sale, minky can actually be cheaper than the fleece...it all depends on when and where you buy it.

Personally, I don't use minky, I use PLUSH anti-pill fleece, which is considered to be a 'minky' fabric (anything w/a fur-type nap and a knitted backing of which there are over 400 types of fabrics that fall into the minky category) because it holds up better and is just as creamy creamy soft as minky.  I am making a 36" plushie right now using minky, but after that only if someone asks for it and I may stop using the fleece.  Why?  Because both products are made from petrochemicals...petroleum oil.  Both can cause rashes and sweating (if you're wearing something made from it), and third...they are both highly FLAMMABLE, which means that plushie you just paid a lot of money for would go up in smoke before you had a chance to put it out.  So, next time I go to the fabric store, I'm looking at other alternatives such as higher grade flannel which can be very soft and is very easy to work with, cashmere, natural fiber velvet and soft wools.  If anyone knows of any other kinds of 'natural fiber' (not man-made) fabrics, by all means share with us!

GothGurl obviously knows what goes into making a plush...so for anyone else who questions the prices on a plushie...take a break, sit back and actually think about ALL of the work that goes into making it from concept to finish.  The time spent finding the fabric, the cost of materials etc...  And to answer one remark made, not everyone has a knack or talent for sewing let alone making the pattern therefore they have to look to someone to make that beloved plushie that they want.

People who buy 2k purses are idiots too. And that's completely irrelevant anyway. Spending mass amounts of money on something you can make yourself by spending like $70 on the exact same materials is just dumb. That's my opinion. Get over it.

I was wondering how much it would be just to get the pattern for mew's head? This may be a weird request, but I just need the head and I'm totally willing to pay for it! The head of all the mews you have made is so adorable! I totally understand if this is something you would prefer to keep to yourself, but I figured that it wouldn't hurt to ask! Keep on doing amazing work!

I apologize if this question has been asked and I haven't seen it, but I was wondering if you do something similar to the pocket-sized ponies with original characters/non-ponies? I'm not really interested in the houses, but a small plush like that is something I would be interested in buying. You don't do those, do you?

Would it be possible to make ponies with out pose-able materials inside? Could you make a 4 inch one that's floppy like a stuffed animal? Like a beanie baby?
How do you even make these things?
Do you have a pattern?
I'm guessing we would never get that pattern even if you have one....:/
You are amazing though, this is quite a bit of work. Geez, I'd say the price is high, but they seem very high quality- not to mention totally worth it-
Are you doing this as a primary source of income?
AHHH So many questions.
What kind of material did you use on derpy? Is it fluffy? It looks fluffy... I think I'll leave you alone now.

i can make them without the pose-able material
but i not sure if they can be floppy as for the size.
yes i do have a pattern but it only for my personal use.

Thanks you! yes indeed, they do are a lot of work and require a lot of attention.
oh and the material they are made of is called "Minky" a really soft material good quality plushies out there use :)
